Re-performed at Tisch School of the Arts, September 27, 2011

  • This piece uses an old piece of furniture in bad shape. Destroy it further, if you like. Bandage it up with gauze and adhesive. Spray red paint on the wounded joints. Effective lighting helps. This activity may be performed with one or more performers, and simultaneously with other events.

The performance and video are presented in conjunction with Fluxus and the Essential Questions of Life at the Grey Art Gallery, September 9 – December 3, 2011. The Wounded Chair is on view in the exhibition.

THE YES MEN @ NYU

Every Friday beginning Sept. 23, the NYU Yes Lab will involve students, faculty, local activists, and the occasional government official in strategizing and accomplishing funny media-getting actions. This fall’s projects will focus on the problem of income disparity and the rich-poor divide, locally and globally. Participants will join “action groups” to come up with funny media actions around manifestations of income disparity; specific focuses may include the evisceration of workers’ rights, declining standards of living, corporate manipulation of our legal system and tax code, paranoia around immigration, military spending, environmental injustice, and so on.

For details on locations and times, etc., please email nyu@yeslab.org and tell us about yourself, your interests, and your skills.

And on Thursday nights – Big Funny Change Speaker Series: read more.
